Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2008

Specially Commended - Bird Behaviour

I was absolutely delighted and honoured to receive this award. 34,000 entries from 87 countries

displayed the creativity and inspiration of the very best images from around the world.

Latest News

I have been working with Natural England to produce a leaflet about educating photographers at Dipper nesting sites

in the Peak District. Over the last 5 years  the number of photographers at Dipper nesting sites has increased dramatically.

This has resulted in reduced breeding success at a couple of sites. Natural England has produced a leaflet aimed at helping

photographers understand the pressure they create at Dipper nests and to adopt a code that will hopefully see Dippers

 increase their nesting success.

View the leaflet by clicking on the dipper image below.

Welcome to my web  site.

When you look at the natural world you will see great beauty. Fleeting moments can take on great significance and brief encounters can leave the watcher breathless. It is the attempt to capture those moments and to try to produce evocative images that drives me on. The majority of my work is carried out in the Peak District and though I travel extensively throughout the planet I find I am continually drawn to northern environments and their wildlife.

I write every month for Derbyshire Life and  have articles and images regularly published  in Outdoor Photography, Bird Watching, Amateur Photography, Natural World, Birds Illustrated and BBC Wildlife. I am represented by a number of agencies, FLPA, NPL, Photonatura. I am available for commissioned work, workshops and tours. I have produced images for Sheffield City Council, Western Park Museum, many Wildlife Trusts and a large number of businesses.  I am becoming increasingly concerned with the impact of people on the natural environment and I am working closely with a number of conservation bodies, both Governmental and NGO's to develop site specific codes of practice for photographers.

If you would like to contact me please go to the contact button above, I look forward to hearing from you.
