August 2005 I spent 8 days in Rwanda and Uganda tracking Mountain
Gorillas. I completed 3 treks, 2 in Rwanda in the Parc National des Volcans and 1 in
Uganda in the Mgahinga Park. The 2 Rwandan treks were not as arduous as I
expected but the one in Uganda was more demanding. The mist clad, steep
sided valley in Uganda was a tough climb but when you meet the gorillas
the experience is amazing. To be so close to such magnificent animals is
simply mind-blowing. Photography is not always easy and much depends on
the cloud cover and where the gorillas are in terms of the forest. Using
digital certainly increases the possibilities. All images taken with an
EOS 1D MK 11, 28-135 IS and 70-200 2.8. ISO 200-400. |
