Story of the Month, April 2007, Cranes in Sweden

Lake Hornborga in Southern Sweden is one of Europe's best photographic hotspots. Literally thousands of cranes stop over for a couple of weeks to feed as they head north to nameless, huge wetland areas in Lapland from the sunnier climes of  Europe and North Africa. Six hides are placed for an absolutely amazing experience as you watch and listen to countless cranes land, display and interact with each other only feet away from you. My first day in the hide dawned with a clear blue sky. That night a light fall of snow and mist at dawn added a completely new dimension to the images.

All taken with a EOS 1D mk 11 and 28-135, 70-200, 300 and 500 lenses
