Story of the Month-April

I spent a lot of time in late April and early May photographing all 3 species of British newts. Luckily I can still find all 3 species easily in Sheffield, though the number of Great Crested Newt ponds can be counted on the fingers of one hand. I needed a licence to photograph the GC Newts because they are now rated as threatened on a European basis. All the newts were photographed in a purpose built tank and by varying the depth of field I could get some nice images highlighting their gorgeous eyes. I worked hard to get all the settings as natural as possible, there is nothing worse than a newt image with aquarium gravel in it! All taken with an EOS 1D mk11 and 90 mm Tamron.      spent a
