Dotterels have been one of my favourite birds
since a weeks long sojourn for them in the Drumochter hills 25 years or
so ago. They pass through England on their way north every spring and
have regular stop of points. Many of these used to be wet, flat areas
hence one of their older names, moss fool, which also unflatteringly
describes their confiding nature. This female (brighter than the male)
was photographed on top of Pendle Hill this May. EOS 1D mk 11 500 mm lens. |
